Alcohol & Other Drug Counseling Program

Services Provided

•Assessments are made to the degree of the problems and treatment recommended.

•Court letters are written concerning recommended treatment and progress in the counseling program.

•Laboratory drug tests of urine specimens can be done to verify that the client is remaining alcohol and drug free.

•Individual counseling is done to work on private issues and to give the client a strong start in recovery.

•Small groups may be the modality of choice as treatment progresses.

•Family counseling is encouraged as part of the process, especially with some selected clients.

•Referrals. The program takes a holistic approach to recovery, with body, mind, and spirit. Professionals such as physicians, therapists, and the clergy may be recommended to supplement substance abuse counseling for special needs. All clients are encouraged to have medical prevention care. Some clients seem to need the extra help from physician prescribed medication or antabuse to break the addiction dependency.

•Intensive treatment. Most clients attend counseling once a week at first. Other clients in advanced addiction
may need to be referred to an intensive day program or inpatient treatment. He/She may return to counseling for a fresh and stronger start in recovery.

•Relapse counseling. If a client has been alcohol and drug free for some time, but experiences the return of craving or use of chemicals, he/she may return to counseling for a fresh and stronger start in recovery.
